    Proclamation of 1765
    The Proclamation of 1763 was when the British told the colonists that they couldn’t go over the Appalachian Mountains. The British were across the ocean so the colonists thought they didn’t have to listen to the British. The colonists went over the Mountains & got in trouble with the British for not following the rule. This was the 1st time that the colonists had broken the British rules.Which has led to the other events that they did to each other. So they got mad at each other.

  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    This was the British’s way of getting back to the Colonists for breaking the Proclamation line. What it was is when the British put a stamp on the basic necessities like coffee, tea, etc. what that stamp meant was when they had to pay more for that item. This affected the rich more. This led to the war because the Colonists were mad about this so they had to do something to get back at them like the next event that happened. So there was just constant tension between them.

  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    There was a crowd of colonists and there were redcoats and the colonists were complaining about many previous events that had happened before.The crowd started yelling & calling the redcoats names.The crowd was getting aggresive like throwing snow & ice.One person in the crowd said fire and then one of the soldiers fired into the crowd.The redcoats thought that their leader said fire. People in the crowd thought they were just standing up for their freedoms.This led to many injuries. www.loc.gov

    The Tea Act
    This is when the British put a HUGE price on tea. HUGE tax on tea and they did it on tea because everyone drinks tea, the rich and the poor. It was a staple for their time. This led to the war because the are both keeping getting mad at each other for the events they keep doing to each other. That leads up to the war. Since they just keeping doing things to each other like the tea act, stamp act, and the Proclamation of 1765.

  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    This is when the Colonists dressed up as Indians and went to the Boston Harbor. When they went to the Boston Harbor they went on a ship that had a load of tea on it and dumped a HUGE amount of tea into the Boston Harbor to get back at the British for the tea act. Since they did that the British lost thousands of dollars. This is another example of how they keeping doing these horrible things to each other that lead up to the war from all the tension there is.

    The Intolerable Acts
    The way that the British got back at the colonists for the Boston tea party. The Intolerable Acts were the Boston Port Act, Government act, the biggest law was the Quartering Act, and the last law was Impartial Administration .From these laws it caused anger from the colonists to the British which led up to the war since them being mad so that was one step closer to war.

  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    At this battle we do not know who shot first. It was known as the shot heard around the world. At the battle the British tried to capture the colonists weapons. They failed and the Colonists won. This caused injuries and death. So both sides were mad at each other which was their motivation to keep fighting battles against each other.

  • The Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Colonists built a fort to try and fend off the British at Breeds Hill. During the battle the Colonists were doing very well. They ended up losing only because they ran out of ammunition. It almost felt like a win for the Colonists because they killed or injured more than half of the British troops. This was a win for the British that had an effect on the war.

    Common Sense
    Common Sense was made by Thomas Paine. The purpose of it was to become free. The patriots tried to convince loyalists to rebel. The whole thing was to promote the idea of American exceptionalism and the need to form a new nation to realize its promise / try to get freedom. They argued that it was only common sense to separate from England. The tried to help by getting more people on their side. So they could fight battles.

  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    What the Declaration of Independence was it was a statement that said to Britain and USA that they are free from England, will have own economy, gov, etc. They are guaranteed pursue of happiness, life, liberty. This helped the Colonists in the long run with the war saying they would be free from England so they could do what they want.

    The Battle of Trenton/Princeton

    The Colonists won both battles at Trenton and at Princeton this had affected the war since they had won both. He won by using a new strategy. The strategy was call "retreating". What that was is when if they were losing a battle before it was done they ran away. He used this and won which was huge for them.

    The Green Mountain Boys (Ticonderoga)

    Fort Ticonderoga was the first offensive victory for American forces in the revolutionary war. This is when Benedict Arnold was called a traitor since he went to the British side. The Green Mountain Boys were a patriot militia in the American Revolution. There leader was Ethan Allen. This had a huge impact on the war since Arnold switched sides.

    The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga was a huge win for the colonists that had impacted the war. It was a major turning point. There were two battles. The first one was at Freeman's farm and the second battle was at Bemis Heights. The British reinforcements never made it to the battles.

    The Continental Army Wintering Valley Forge

    When Colonists stayed at Valley Forge because they lost Philadelphia. Henry Clinton led the British troops at Monmouth. General Lee got nervous and retreated from the British only to show the British where the Continental Army was stationed. British evacuated at night. It was an opportunity for Washington to retrain the troops. France's entry into the war was a key turning point. After they both went to New York. This impacted the war since the colonies won.

    The War in the South/Charleston

    The war in the South/Charleston were the battles of Savannah, Camden, Charleston. The British were also focused on the south because there were more patriots there. They lost all of the battles. That hurt the impact of the revolution. What happened at Charleston was there was a huge lost for the colonists. They won some battles and that helped with the score of who won the battles so it wasn't such a bad thing those battles were Ramseur's Mill, Cowpens, and Kings Mountain. www.battlefields.org
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown
    This was the last big battle for the revolution. The American General who came from New York to Yorktown was Washington. Cornwallis chose Yorktown to go to because it was a coast that was a great place to get resources. There were people who surrounded Yorktown those were General Layfatees platoon, France navy, & Washington's platoon. The colonies won the war this affected the war a lot because after it they all signed the treaty of Paris that symbolized the U.S. was free.
