Raised taxes on sugar. Also gave the British soldiers the right to search your house without going to court. -
Stamp Act
Raised taxes on legal and commercial documents. -
Stamp Act Congress
It was the first meeting of the colonies to consider working together to protest the policies of the British Governement. -
Declaratory Act
Stated that Parliament had authority to rule the colonies. -
Boston Massacre
Clash between the Americans and British troops in Boston in which 5 colonists were killed. -
Townshend Acts
While it was announced and founded in June and July it was actually repealed in April. Put taxes on everyday items such as glass, paper, lead, paint, and tea. -
Tea Act
Final tax that Britain raised. Did it because of the Boston Tea Party. -

They were founded as a communication service fro colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
It was a political protest of the Sons of liberty to the British troops so they threw boxes of tea into the ocean. -
First Continental Congress
Meeting of the delegates of 12 of the 13 colonies to discuss the Coercive Acts fo the British parliament. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
General Gage rode to Lexington to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock. He then rode to Concord where he would then seize. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The Americans heard that the British were going to take Breed and Bunker hill to gain tactical defense. So the Americans decided to defend the hills. -
Quartering Act
Stated that Americans had to provide the necessities for British troops (food, shelter, and money). -
Declaration of Independence
Statement that announced the 13 colonies.
