The document that ended the war between Britain & France over the Ohio River Valley . This Treaty ended French power in North America & expanded British territory & increased British debt . -
Proclamation of 1763 .
In 1763, at the end of the French and Indian War, the British issued a proclamation, causing to stop the angry Indians by checking the number of settlers on their lands . This closed down colonial from going westward, was the first measure to affect all 13 colonies. -
Sugar Act .
The sugar act required colonists to pay a tax of 6 pence. The British enforced tax strictly , which required the people to become smugglers . Although the British passed the Sugar act of 1764 . -
Stamp Act .
The stamp act required all colonists to purchase stamps , & stamp marks from England on every piece of legal paper & other printed papers . This was different EVERYONE had to pay this . -
Quartering Act .
The quartering act required all colonists to house British soldiers , and provide them with supplies . -
Stamp Act Congress .
A meeting that was in New York with some representatives from the British in North America , it was the first time representatives from all colonies came together to devise . -
Declaratory Act .
British claimed the right to tax and make all decisions in the colonies -
Townshend Act .
The tax act required merchants to pay an import tax on paper , tea, lead , glass , and paint . -
Boston Massacre .
The Boston Massacre was a propaganda , British troops fired an angry mob going to the custom house killing 5 people one was named Crispus Attucks . -
Tea Act .
The tea act allowed a British tea company to sell in colonies without paying tea taxes . -
Boston Tea Party .
The Boston Tea Party was when colonist dressed as Mowhawks , and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor angrily . -
First Continental Acts .
All colonies met to have a meeting (except Georgia) & voted to ban all trade with Britain until intolerable acts were repealed , called on the building of a militia for the colonies - minutemen . -
Tea party Coercive acts .
The Coercive/Intolerable acts was a punishment for the Boston Tea Party (which the colonist did not like this act) they closed the Boston Harbor , allowed no more town meetings , and forced colonists to feed , and give the British somewhere to live . -
Olive Branch Petition .
After Lexington , Concord , and Bunker Hill , some Patriot leaders still considered themselves subjects of the king. They blamed king & parliament for what was happening but wanted to avoid war . -
Battles of Lexington and Concord .
The battles of Lexington and concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary war . -
Second continental congress .
This was the 2nd continental meeting , they met in Philadelphia. They agreed to make an official army. George Washington the general wrote Petition King George the 3rd for peace in an attempt to avoid war . -
Battle of bunker hill .
The battle of bunker hill alarmed the British attack with 2,200 soldiers , and colonists did not enough ammo , so of course they lost to the British . -
Common sense .
In early 1776 , most colonists wanted to avoid war with England , but after common sense was published many changed their minds . This caused them to argue & scorned the idea that king ruled by the will of God . -
