French and Indian war
The fighting started when french and british collided in north America, they fought 3 inconclusive wars. After six years of peace they collided again in 1754 which sparked the French and Indian war. -
Stamp Act
The stamp at was the tax the british put on all printed items that the colonist made. This tax was the first tax that affected the colonists directly because it was levied on gods and services. A group of men called The Sons of Libety began the firstrebellion against the taxes. -
Townshend act
The townshend acts were put in place in 1767 named after Charles Townshend. The act put a tax on every single good imprted from britian to the colonies. It also placed a taz on the colonies favorite drink, tea. -
Boston Massacre
In 1770 colonist gathered in a mob and taunted british guards. The guards fired upon the colonists killing 5 men in what is now known today as the boston massacre. -
Tea acts
The tea acts were passed by parlament in 1773 which put a tax upon the drink of choice, tea. This aventually led to the Boston Tea Party in december of 1773. -
Boston Tea Party
After the taxes on tea were put into place the colonists decided to dress up like indians and boared the british tea ships and dump over 18,000 pounds of tea into the boston harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
The intolerable acts were acts that were put in place by parlement that earned its name from the colonists. The acts shut down boton harbor, allowed soldiers of the british to house wherever they please and search houses withot premission, and lastly general Thomas of the british forces was made govenor of massachusetts. -
Battles at Lexington and Concord
The battle at lexington and concord were the first battles of the american revolution. It was between the british and the minutemen of the colonists. Minutemen were civillians who when needd on short notice were ready to fight. After the british blew through lexington they met an unexpected 4,000 minutemen who slaughtered them and sent them back to boston -
1st and 2nd Continental congress
Colonial leaders called the second continental congress in philadelphia to discuss their next move against the british. -
Publishing of common sense
Common sense was a 50 page pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. It attacked king george and the monarchy. He explained that his revolt against the king had started with lexington and concord
