This event happened when an angry mobbed formed and kept provoking britsh soldiers. As the british soldiers got mad one of them fired at killed five colonists. -
Tea Act
The tea act was the act that took taxes off of tea but they were only getting sold a cheaper tea. This act cut cololnial merchants out of trade. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea party was the event when a group of colonists dumped 18,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
A series of actts parliament passed like an act that shut down boston harbor, quartering acts that allowed british soldiers to occupie colonist's houses and an act that appointed boston a British military officer. -
1st Continental Congress
September 1774 56 delegates met in Phildelphia and became known as the 1st Continental Congress. There they drew up a declration of colonial rights -
Lexington and Concord
this was the first battle that started the revolution. The colonists tried to take the british with only 70 men and the British had 700 troops. When the british marched to Concord the colonists caught the red coats facing their backs to the colonists and shot away. -
2nd Continental Congress
The delegates met in Phildelphia to debate their next move againdt Britian. after all the arguing they agreed uopn making a military and making Georg Washington the commandor. -
Common Sense
Common Sense was 50 page pamplet that basically attacked British ruler . In his writings he explained why the colonists should revolt and how much better they would be off with out them. -
Declaration of Independence
Thomas Jefferson was appointed to write up the declaration of independence which stated all the reason why they wanted to be independent. Many of his ideas were ideas of John Locke's such as Natural Rights. -
Battle of NY
Britished attempted to sieze New York and entered the New York harbor. The Colonists tried fighting back but it was uneven numbers. They then had retreated and got pushed back all the way into Pennsylvania. -
Battle of Saratoga
This battle the British were caught off guard in Saratoga and were out numbered by the Colonists. The British then surrendered which was a very important event in the war. -
Battle of Trenton
George Washington led 2,4000 men across Delaware river and marched to Trenton to defeat a group of German soldiers that were fighting for Britian. -
Battle of Yorktown
This was the final battle that ended the revolution. The colonists blocked the entrance of Chesapeake Bay which left the British with only a small amount of soldiers. The colonists and French had them surrounded and they eventually surrendered. -
Treaty of Paris
Delegates signed the treaty and it confirmed America independent and set the boundaries for the new country.
