1st Quartering Act
This event was important because this Act made it mandatory for people to house British officers in their house. This caused the colonists to be extremly mad because now they had another mouth to feed and the fact that the colonists didn't like the british troops didn't help at all. -
Troops Sent Into Boston as Military Police
This event was important to the revolution because now that the British troops were acting as poilice in Boston, the people of Boston felt that they were being looked down upon by the king and they felt that these troops were being extremly unfair and biased towards the colonies. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a huge even in the road to the Revolution because after the British killed the five colonists, people made it look like the killings were all the British fault. This led the colonists to be extremly angered and all of the colonies started coming together. Withought this event I feel that the revolutionary war wouldn't have happened as quickly as it did. -
Boston Tea Party
This was an important event because this was seen by the British as a major threat to the rules that they had made. The colonists were sick of having to pay taxes on tea so in an effort to get rid of the acts, they threw an estimated 44 chests of Tea into the Boston harbor. This made the King extremly angry because not only did they waste a lot of money buy throwing the tea overboard but the colonists also dmamged about 1-3 million dollars to the cargo of the British. -
Lexington and Concord
This event was important because at this time, the British military was having a rought ime in boston. Small militias had started to form in Mass. The king immidietly wanted to seize the leaders of the militias and capture the munitions supply in Concord. However the British plan was poor and the ended up landing in marshes. Paul Revere then acted as a spy network and warned the militia in Lexington and the British were forced to retreat. It was the first victory for the colonists. -
Olive Branch
After the battle of Lexington, the colonits sent a letter to the King to propose a treaty. This document was called the Olive Branch. However the king viewed it as a joke and laughed at it. I feel like this was a major mistake by the king because at this point the colinists just wanted to be friendly. In return this angered the colonists because they felt they werent being treated fairly and the king wasnt taking them serious. -
Declaration of Independence
This document, written by Thomas Jefferson, was important because this was the document that finally made America a country. This formed the colonies into not individual states but into the United States of America. It was passed on July 4th 1776 and it was the starting point of the Revolutionary War. Once the king herd of the document, the war was on.
