    the British and the French were involved in the French and Indian War. the British won. Since the war was expensive, the British started to tax colonists. the colonists got mad at the British for taxing them.
  • Stamp act

    The Stamp Act happened because British started taxing colonists in stamp form. The colonists didn't like it and they got mad. So they burned the stamps and started to riot against the stamps.
  • Townshend act

    Townshend act
    The Townshend act set up strict measures for collecting taxes from the colonies. Britain passed four laws to declare the authority of the colonies. so they can make this act and get all the tax money. however, the colonists didn't like this act and said it was "taxation without representation".
  • Bosston massacre

    British troops went to Boston. Colonists harassed the British troops and one of the British troops accidentally shot up in the air. Five colonists died that day. They made the British troops leave Boston.
  • Battle of bunker hill

    the tension between the British and the colonies got worse, which caused a war. the British planned to attack America north and south of Boston. but some of their plan was leaked. 1000+ Connecticut and Massachusetts soldiers were on the hill of Charlestown to defend the hill. they called it Bunker Hill because the clash of African slaves and American soldiers wouldn't be extinguished easily.

    The colonies gained their independence from Great Britain. They did not want taxation from Britain anymore so they had to fight for their independence. by starting an official alliance with the government of France.

    The British wanted to attack New York with 3 separate attacks with 3 armies but New York found out about the first attack. The second attack was unsuccessful. they later surrendered, and France signed a treaty with the U.S.
  • battle of yorktown

    battle of yorktown
    The British and the Continental armies were tired of a 6-year war that was never going to end. So George Washington and his ally (Comte De Rochambeau) decided to go from New York to Yorktown Virginia. The armies marched hundreds of miles making their group the largest troop movement in the American Revolution. They surprised the British with the movement which made the British surrender. America finally gained their independence from this victory.
  • Treat of Paris

    Treat of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolution. The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783 by the French declaring the United States an independent country.
