  • Navigation Acts

    The Navigation Acts were laws passed by England to maintain control over colonial trade. The acts made colonists buy English goods and limited trade between the colonies and other countries.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris is the document that ended the war between the British and the French over the Ohio River Valley. This treaty ended French power in North America and expanded British territory.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 was a proclamation meant to keep the natives and colonists from fighting. This made the colonists angry because they could not go west past the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was an act in 1764 that lowered the price of tax of molasses, sugar, coffee, wines, etc., from 6 pence to 3 pence. The people were happy, because they didn't have to pay so much money.
  • Writs of Assistance

    The Writs of Assistance were search warrants. It made it legal for British soldiers to search any property looking for goods. The people did not like this because if the soldiers found what they were hiding they would take whatever the stolen item was and take it away.
  • Quartering Act

    The quartering act was a requirement that all colonists had to house British soldiers and provide them with supplies. The people angry because they had to spend more money on things they can barely afford to house a soldier that just appears at your doorstep, whether you're willing to let them in or not.
  • Stamp Act

    The stamp act required all colonists to purchase stamps, and stamp acts, from England on every piece of legal paper and other printed papers. This made the people upset because they were paying so much more money for things they once payed so little for.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    The Stamp Act Congress was a boycott of British goods and Petition of the King
  • Declaratory Acts

    The Declaratory Act was a law that said that British government had supreme authority to govern the colonies. The Americans chose to ignore this declaration, but the struggle for who will control the colonies had begun.
  • Townshends Acts

    The Townshend acts was an act that taxed goods before they were shipped to the colonies so that the colonists less angry. This did not make the colonists happy because they still had to pay more money.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was an even in which 5 colonists were shot dead by the British. They were shot because they shouted and threatened the a British guard and when the guard called for the main guard more colonists showed up. The shots started after a colonist hit a soldier with a club and the gun of the soldier was mistakenly fired. After the shot was fired, the other soldiers fired and the colonists threw their clubs, rocks, and anything else they could find at the soldiers.
  • Coercive Act

    The Coercive Act was the British punishment for the Boston Tea Party. The punishment includes shutting down the port of Boston, forbade Massachusetts colonists to hold town meetings more than once a year without the Governors permission, passed the Quartering Act, and allowed officials who might be charged with major crimes to be tried in Britain or Canada, instead of Massachusetts.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was the event in which the British colonists dumped all of the British tea from the ships into the ocean. They dumped the tea because they didn't like that the tea was being taxed. In result, the British Soldiers closed the Boston Harbor as punishment.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act was the act in which the British started taxing all British Tea. The colonist did not like this because they were being taxed without representation. In result to the Tea Act, the British colonists dumped all of the tea into the ocean.
  • First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress was a meeting where all of the colonies, except Georgia, had a meeting in Philadelphia where they voted to ban all trade with Britain until thew Intolerable Acts were repealed.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the battle between the British and the colonists at Bunker Hill. After the British won against the colonists at Lexington, the colonists followed hid in bushes, behind trees, fences, houses, and barns, along the way to Britain shooting and firing at the soldiers.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The second Continental Congress was when all of the colonies, including Georgia, met, once again, in Philadelphia where they agreed to make an official army, name George Washington the general, authorize printing of money to pay soldiers, and to petition King George to III for peace in an attempt to avoid war.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The Battle of Bunker Hill was the battle between the British and the colonists at Bunker Hill. Colonists Colonel William Prescott ordered his men not to fire until you can see the whites of their eyes. The British eventually won, but lost 1,000 British soldiers while the militia lost 400.
