Trail of Tears and Armed Resistance
The Jackson administration pressured the Indian groups to sell their lands and move west. U.S soldiers forced over 15,000 Cherokees to walk away from their lands in the south east to Oklahoma along what came to be the trail of tears. Around 4000 Cherokees died of diseases , exposure , and hunger on theri long journey. -
Removal
A portion of American Indians in the south refused removal from their lands. In 1836 , after many violent conflicts with white settlers , troops forced the Creeks from their southern lands. -

In Florida , the Seminoles fought in the second Seminole war between 1835-1842. At the end of the war , most of the Seminoles were forced out by the American troops. -
