First Continental Congress
Twelve of the thirteen colonies met responding to the passage of the Coercive Act by Great Britain. (It was punishment for the Boston Tea Party.) -
Second Continental Congress
All thirteen states were there. This meeting was to manage the Revolutionary War. The raised arms, directed strategy, appointed diplomats and made treaties. They adopted the Declaration of Independence. -
Olive Branch Petition
The Colonies tried to avoid full all out war with Britain. -
Prohibition Act
Created by the Great Britain Parliament. Great Britain tried to put down the colonies by making a blockade of trading between Colonies. They were trying to destroy the Colonies economy. It was really a declaration of war. -
Declaration of Independence
The Colonies declared themselves an independent and sovereign states. It was adopted by the Second Continental Congress.
