The industrial revolution started in the early 1820's and continued through the late 1870's. The inventions of new machines attrubuted to the growth of factories and urbanization. -

Immigration
Just after 1825, immigration skyrocketed. Immigrants from Germany, Ireland, China and Scandinaviansrushed over to America for the job opportunites in factories and violence and famine in their home countries. The population went from approximently 41 thousand to 347 thousand in fifteen years. -
Westward Expansion
Westward Expansion started in the early 1800's. Manifest destiny was a major part of westward expansion. By 1840, over 7 million people lived in the west. -
Reform Movements
There were many reform movements which included:
Womens rights- voting, oppression, ect.
Education- make education more avalible to children
Prison- weren't as strict to the prisioners
Abolition- the second great awakening started abolitionist ideas in northern america
Temperance- acholol was banned completly
Labor- trade was made easier and minimum wage was decreased -
American Culture in the 19th Century
The Industrial Revolution geve way to better art, nicer clothing, and new products. The people were obsessed with the next best thing and the efficencecy that products were made.
