The civil war caused a break up of the united states. the states were broken up between the union and cofederate states. the confederate states decied to not to follow the rest of the united states so abraham linclon decied to declare war on the confederate states. the confederate states relied on slave labor form their large plantation farms. -
Emancipation proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation was a presidential proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863, as a war measure during the American Civil War, directed to all of the areas in rebellion and all segments of the Executive branch of the United States. It proclaimed the freedom of slaves in the eleven states that were still in rebellion, excluding areas controlled by the Union and thus applying to 3 million of the 4 million slaves in the U.S. -
Rail Roads Meet
May 10, 1869, the Transcontinental Rail Road meets. This rail road connected the east to the west of the united states. This alowed for supplies and people to get from the east to the west quickly and safely. The rail road opened opportunities but came at a price 2000 workers died and 20,000 were injured during the making of the rail road. -
