Stamp Act
Tax on legal documents. Required that a stamp be bought for all legal documents and other items such as playing cards or newspapers. -
Townshend Act
This act is named after Charles Townshend. This parliament puts duties on imported goods. -
Boston Massacre
A drunken mob throwss snowballs at brittish soldiers to harass them. The brittish soldiers get angry and fire their muskets at the croud. -
Boston Tea Party
The night of December 16,1773 colonists disguised themselves as mowhawk indians. Then they went aboard three tea ships and opened the crates and dumped out 45 tons of tea. -
Intolerable Acts
Boston harbor shuts down until paid. -
Second Continental Congress
First gathered in 1775. Many of the same delegates from the first continental congress returned. The newer delegates included Benjamin Franklin and John Hancock. This was from 1775 to 1781. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
Americans occupied two hills north of Boston Breed hill and Bunker Hill. On this day the brittish army attacked. The Brittish launched three assaults on the patriots. Finally on the third attack the Brittish succeeded and captured Breeds Hill. -
Olive Branch Petition
It was a petition from the colonists to make peace with the brittish. Sadly it didn't work and the brittish kept bossing the colonists. -
Common sense is published
Common sense was written by Thomas Paine. It was written to show people that they need to fight for independence. -
Declaration of Independance
Mostly written by Thomas jefferson. This was made to gain freedom from England. The Colonists didn't want to be bossed around by England anymore so they made this to become free and have their own rights. -
Trenton
George washington led the american troops to a victory against the hessian soldiers in the battle of trenton. -
Battle of Saratoga
The english army tried to attack the americans but ended up losing. This battle was a victory for the Patriots and a major turning point for the American Relolution. -
Yorktown
George washington joined forces with the french and planned the attack on Brittish troops. Charles Cornwallis is the leader of the Brittish troops and finds he has to face an army twice the size of his own. Eventually Cornwallis surrendered. -
Treaty of Paris
This treaty ended the Revolutionary War.
