    A three - cent tax on foreign sugar and a tax increase tax on coffee, Indigo, and certain wines.
    taxes were raised without consent on all these items, also the act outlawed rum and french wine.

    The battle of Lexington and Concord
    Paul Revere's famous ride through the countryside warning the colonist that the British were coming. The British marched from Boston to Concord but along the way they came upon a group of colonists at Lexington and that is where the first shots were shot. The British were forced to retreat when they got to Concord and were harassed all the way back to Boston.

    George Washington named commander and chief
    Named the first President of the United States. He also led the Continental Army in the Revolutionary war and fought with the British in the French Indian war. He served for two terms as president and then retired to live quietly in Mount Vernon with his wife.

    Fought over Beeds hill in Charlestown. It was a position taken to protect the shipyard of Boston Harbor. The americans shot until they were out of ammunition and then to conserve ammunition they said wait until you see the whites of their eyes to shoot.

    The second Congress met and named George Washington Commander-in-Chief of the army. The Congress met all summer and the Declaration of Independence came from this meeting.
