The Proclamation Line
This was the line that was not allowed to be crossed. It prohibited many people from expanding west ward, which angered many people. -
The Stamp Act
This act put a one penny tax on each and every stamp. This angered many colonists, since mail was the only mean of long range communication. -
The Declaratory Act
This act repealed the Stamp Act, but in turn, said that Parliament had the same taxing authority in both Great Britain and the Americas. -
The Townshend Act
A series of acts passed in 1767. It implemented taxes on glass, lead, paint, and tea. -
The Boston Massacre
This was the killing of 5 colonists by British Soldiers. This was caused by the tension of all the British Soldiers and the Colonists. It was propagandized by the colonists to make it seem like a huge crime, further increasing the want for Freedom in America. -
The Boston Tea Party
Samuel Adams and the "Sons of Liberty" dressed up as Indians. They boarded three ships and dumped over 340 chests of Tea into the harbor. -
The Intolerable Act
A series of laws that were passed after the Boston Tea Peewarty. These laws were meant to punish those for their defiance against Parliament. -
The Declaration of Independence
Declared that America was free from Great Britain, and explains all the reasons. Basically, it was the biggest, most important break-up letter ever. -
The Constitutional Convention
Delegates from 5 states met in Philadelphia to discuss ways to improve the Articles of Convention. -
The Great Compromise
An Agreement that defined the legislature and representation each state was given in the United States.
