Anne (age 1) cries during the night beacuse she is hungry, the mother comes in to breastfeed her and change her diaper. In Eriksons First state, Trust vs Mistrust, in early infancy, it is the most important time in a persons ife. It is the initial stage of development where children learn whether or not they can trust the world. The care they recieve from their parents and other adults. If this is not met, then babies can be neglected and can affect them the rest of their lives. -
Toddler
February 7th, 1984 Anne (Age 2) tries to put on her own clothes without her mothers assistance until she asks for help. In Eriksons 2nd stage, Autonomy vs Shame, the crisis is that the child between 18 months and 3 years where the child become more independent by making their own choices. This includes picking what they eat, wear and play with. The parents also need to encourage the child to be more independent or this would lead to the child to become detached from the world. -
Early Childhood
April 31st 1986 Anna (5 Years old) plays with her new friends in preeschool and often make up many games which involves playing nicely with others. Eriksons third stage, initiative vs guilt, children begin to assert their power and control over the world through directing play and social interaction with other kids and adults that care for them such as teachers and parents. The guilt would be doing something that your peers or parents do not approve of such as pushing other kids. -
Pre Teens
Novemebr 12th 1991 Anne (Age 12) enjoys going to school and learding how to wtie, do math and read. Eriksons 4th stage, competence vs inferiority, allow children to become industrious and feel confident in their ability to acheive goals. If this initiative is not encourages, and restricted by parents/teachers, then child can feel inferior and doubt their own abilities and can lead them to not reach their full potential.
