    Tea boycott. Colonists insisted the British were trying to trick them into paying the tax. December 16, 1773, Boston Patriots dressed as Indians/ boarded three ships/ dumped tea into the harbour.

    Assembled in Philadelphia. The Second Continental Congress was made up of delegates from each of the 13 colonies and it met in 1776. The Congress was called as a response to the Battle of Lexington and Concord, and it was intended to organize the colonies and give them some direction.
