The start of Alexander the Great
Alexander was born to King Philip and his wife. King Philip was murdered when Alexander was only 20, which left him to lead his dad's empire. He shared the same goal as his father, which was to conquer Persia. -

Starting his conquest
Alexander the Great became king at only 20 years old, which made people think so little of him, but they were very wrong. -

Battle of Granicus (First battle with Persia)
Alexander crosses into Anatolia to conquer Persia. His goal was to defeat King Darius, the king of the Persian empire. King Darius didn't think he was much of an enemy so he sent other generals to fight with him. Alexander quickly won the battle of Granicus and Darius fled. -

Battle of Gaugamela (Final Battle with Persia)
Persians and Macedonians fought in this battle. Darius saw he couldn't win and again fled the scene. Later on, Darius died and Alexander the Great became King of Persia. -

Conquering Egypt
Alexander Conquered Egypt and founded the city of Alexandria. He was proclaimed the son of the god Zeus-Ammon. Never imposed ideas of religion on people. -

Adding to his Empire
Alexander kept conquering as much land as he could. He often called the cities Alexandria. He started at Egypt and conquered all the way to Indus Valley in India. -

Alexander's marriage
Alexander first married a Persian woman, he name was Roxanne, Darius III's daughter. They had a son, Alexander IV of Macedon, who was born after Alexander died. -

Alexander's Death
Upon reaching India, Alexander's solider's wanted to return home. On his way back to Greece, Alexander became ill and died in what is known today as Iraq, he was 32 years old. He may have died from sickness or he may have been poisoned.
