The Horse Insident (346 BCE)
Alexander's dad, King Phillip, saw a horse and named it Bucephalus because it had a mark of an ox-head on its coat and Bucephalus means ox-head. Philip thought the horse was magnificent and bought him, but the horse wouldn't let anyone ride him. Philip said that he is going to sell him. Alexander asked his father to give it to him. He tamed the horse by not letting him see his shadow so that he wouldn't get startled. -
