Gold is found. Skookum Jim Mason, Dawson Charlie and George Washington Carmack found gold in a tributary of the Klondike river starting the Klondike gold rush in Alaska and Yukon territory. Miners poured into Skagway and Dyea to start the journey to the gold fields
