    In 1907, the first successful helicopter took off from a park which was developed by Igor Sikorsky ( the father of helicopters )

  • Metal Airplanes

    In 1915, the first all metal airplane was invented, it also was the first airplane to have a wing on it. It was called 'Junkers J1'

  • Jet Engine Invention

    In 1930, Frank Whittle ( British inventor )designed and built the first jet engine.

  • Passenger Planes

    In 1933, the first passenger plane was invented. It was called 'The Boeing 247' and it could carry up to ten people.

  • Jet propelled Aircraft

    In 1939, Germany invented the first Jet propelled Aircraft which was called Heinkel 178.

  • First Aircraft to travel faster than sound

    In 1947, the first airplane was launched which could travel faster than the speed of sound. This was piloted by Charles Yeager

  • First Solo Trip Around The World

    In 1957, Wiley Post travelled around the world in an airplane. The journey took about 7 days to complete.

  • Boeing 747

    In 1970, the Boeing company release 'The Boeing 747" which was its first commercial plane.

  • Airbus 350

    In 2006, the Airbus 350 was built, and at that time it was the largest passenger plane. The plane had a limit of carrying 555 people.
