The community was divided on what their mission should be: some wanted to defend their current lifestyle of very open sexually community, while others wanted to focus on trying to get more meaningful goal accomplish like right to marry. Meanwhile, Kaposi Sarcoma was still running rampant as n symptoms such as bumps behind ears arose . -
Democratic National Convention
There was split in the gay community to who to support for the Democratic Election. Carter who has "done nothing for gay rights" is seen as the compromise candidate as him winning is safer than allowing Reagan to win (Shilts 30). Better to let Carter win than being forced to walk the plank. Kennedy though actively adcovate for the gay rights community, just not as likely to win against Reagan. -
Kennedy Lost of Nomination
With Carter victory, while with a left-winged Congress would prevent anti-gay legislative from being passed, fear of an inevitable defeat Reagan began to rise. While some become more afraid, others in the gay community became fore resilient.They actively became more vigorous with their sexual freedom, but sadly this resulted in the spreads of AIDS even more. -

Cases of toxoplasmosis are first reported. The threat of this new spread of rare dieases sprounting throughout the gay community becomes more and more apparent with each new disease. As each new outbreak happens, it becomes clear that this disease is soon to become more than just a disease affecting a small demographic, but rather the entire world population. -
