Intensive 6-month regimen of advanced coursework in mathematics, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, materials, thermodynamics, and basic propulsion plant operations. Graduated 07/2009. -
Nuclear Power Training Unit, Charleston
Began course providing OJT of the fundamentals of a Naval nuclear power plant and the interrelationship of its mechanical, electrical, and reactor subsystems. Graduated 01/2010, #1 of 77. -

Promoted to Petty Officer First Class (E6) after 3 years, 11 months in the Navy. -
USS George Washington, CVN 73
The Spirit of Freedom! I transferred to this nuclear-powered Supercarrier based in Yokosuka, Japan, as my first sea-duty. -
Change of Homeport
The USS George Washington shifted homeport from Yokosuka, Japan to Norfolk, Virginia. This required a sail around South America through the Strait of Magellan! We left Japan the 19th of May and arrived in Virginia the 17th of December. -
Qualified PPWS
Today, I reached the top of the mountain: Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor. -
Honorable Separation
After a wonderful 8 years (and some change), my time in the Navy is finished. Once a Sailor, always a Sailor.
