  • Virginia Declaration of Rights

    The Virginia Declaration of Rights was drawn upon by Thomas Jefferson for the opening paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence. it became the basis of the Bill of Rights. It was drafted in 1776. It gave the rights to abolish inadequate government. The Virginia Declaration of Rights was an influence to later important documents.
  • Ratification of the Articles of Confederation

    After disputes over land between Maryland and Virginia, Maryland finally agreed to the terms of the articles of confederation. This affirmed the articles as the outline of the formal government of the United States of America.
  • Treaty of Paris

    it was the negotiation between The United States and Great Britain, in which it finalized the revolutionary war and declared the colonies as independent Americans. the continental congress assigned John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, and Henry Laurens to negotiate a treaty. But mainly Adams and Franklin managed to negotiate.
  • Land Ordinance of 1785

    Land Ordinance of 1785 was the selling of the land west of the Appalachians, east of the Mississippi, and north of the Ohio River by the US government. Thomas Jefferson wrote this in hopes that the land would be divided into ten states. This is important because the first states are formed
  • Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom

    The Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom was drafted by Thomas Jefferson in Virginia in 1777 but it was not passed by the state legislature until 1786. It disestablished the Church of England in Virginia and guaranteed freedom of religion to people of all religious faiths. This included Catholicism, Jewish beliefs and all members of the Protestant denomination

    Shays Rebellion
    Shays Rebellion is a cause of aggressive taxation and debt collection. It was an uprising in Massachusetts during 1786 and 1787 that were based on economic injustices by Massachusetts. Because of Shays Rebellion the Constitutional Convention took place and furthermore it changed courses of history.

    Constitutional Convention
    The Constitutional Convention was intended to revise the Articles of Convention but later created a new government rather than fixing the old government. The Constitutional Convention took place from May 25 and September 17, 1787. James Madison and Alexander Hamilton were among the people in the Constitutional Convention.
  • Northwest Ordinance of 1787

    The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was an establishment of government for the Northwest Territory, outlined the process for admitting a new state to the Union. It guaranteed that newly created states would be equal to the thirteen original colonies/sates. this Ordinance is considered one of the most important legislative acts of the Confederation congress. This Ordinance also outlawed slavery in the western states.

    The George Washington Inauguration was the first presidential inauguration that set mark for George Washington as the fist president of the United States.
  • French Revolution in relation to the United States

    The French Revolution began in 1789. The American people welcomed the French and were willing to help them against the British after the execution on King Louis XVI. But President George Washington made the decision to maintain neutral
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    The Whiskey Rebellion was an uprising from farmers in western Pennsylvania in 1794, who believed that the tax imposed on Whiskey made from a surplus on corn was unfair. The farmers instead of paying the tax decided to attack revenue collectors.Washington responded to the uprising by assigning Alexander Hamilton to calm down the up risers. This caused the rebellion to collapse without shedding any blood.
  • Jay Treaty

    Treaty made with Britain (negotiate) in which the United States tried to resolve issues the remained between them since the Treaty of Paris in 1783. This Treaty facilitated ten years of peaceful trading between them. This treaty was signed in November 19, 1794 but was not effective until February 29, 1796.
  • Treaty of Greenville

    The Treaty of Greenville was in 1795 in which representatives of twelve Indian nations ceded huge territory which makes now Ohio and much of Indiana. The Treaty was signed in August 3, 1795 in what is now Greenville, Ohio. In this case The United States is represented by General Anthony Wayne.
  • Pinckney Treaty

    The Pinckney Treaty was a treaty between the United States and Spain. This treaty was signed in San Lorenzo de El Escorial on October 27, 1795. This treaty also defined the boundaries between the US and Spanish colonies and guaranteed the United States navigation rights on the Mississippi River. In this case The United States were represented by Thomas Pinckney.
  • Washington Farewell

    Washington Farewell
    The Washington Farewell Address is a letter written to the American people by George Washington in which he orientates the American people that he is no longer needed and as the first term of his presidency he reclaimed that he was not fit for the US presidency. He also stated that the country would survive without his leadership.

    The United States Presidential Election of 1796 was the third election of the US as an independent country. It was held from November 4 to December 7, 1796 and was the first contested presidential election. Both parties ran alone because the position of running mate had yet not been established
  • XYZ Affair

    The XYZ Affair was a political and diplomatic event that took place in the early administration of John Adams in 1797 and 1798. This was a confrontation between France and the US that later led to an undeclared war which is also known as the Quasi-War. The french diplomats were in a way disrespectful to the USA.
  • Alien and Sedition Acts

    The Alien and Sedition Acts was signed as a law by 2nd president of the US John Adams in 1798. This act made it harder for an immigrant to become a citizen and gave the power to deport and imprison non citizens who were seemed as dangerous to society and criminalized making false statements that were disapproving to the federal government.
  • Quasi-War

    The Quasi War was an undeclared war that was fought mostly in the sea between France and The United States from 1798 and 1800. This was after the United States refused to pay back the debt they had with France when they were in war against Great Britain fro its independence.
  • Virginia and Kentucky Resolution

    Virginia and Kentucky Resolution
    The Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions were political statements that were drafted in 1798 and 1799 in which legislatures of both states took the position that the Alien and Sedition Acts were unconstitutional. They argued that the states had the right to declare unconstitutional acts of congress that were not approved by the Constitution.

    The Election of 1800 was the fourth presidential election. It was held from Friday, October 31 to Wednesday, December 3, 1800. In this election Thomas Jefferson defeated John Adams.
