US Uses Atomic Bombs on Japan to End WWII
The first ever atomic bomb was made my America and dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The explosion leveled 60% of the city. Around 70,000 people died instantly when it went off. -
Berlin Blockade and Airlift
Soviet forces had gotten mad and blockaded off railroads, and water sources from allied controlled areas of Berlin. The US and UK responded back and airdropped food and fuel to Berlin to help them. -
USSR Tests First Nuclear Weapon
The USSR became the second country to build and test an atomic weapon successfully. They blew the bomb up in Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan. -
Korean War
It was a major fight between North and South Korea where around 2.5 million people died during it. The USSR supplied and assisted North Korea which led to a huge invading attack on South Korea. -
US Tests First Hydrogen Bomb
The US tested the first-ever thermonuclear device at Eniwetok Atoll in the South Pacific. It yielded 10 megatons of TNT and was roughly 1000 times larger than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. -
The Warsaw Pact
It was a political and military alliance between the Soviet Union and multiple Eastern European countries. It gave the Soviets slightly more access to things than others. -
Space Race
This event was a race and competition between the US and the USSR to see who could advance technologically. I also want to be the first person to have items in space. -
Bay of Pigs Invasion
It was the failed attempt by Cuban exiles to overthrow the government known as Fidel Castro. Kennedy was also supporting this since the US was apart of it.
