this was the biggest loss in napoleons reign. he left france with 680,000 soliders and returned to france with 27,000 soldiers in good condition. this was in part to the cold russian winter as well as the scorched earth tactic the russians used against him. -
Retreat from Moscow
due to the scorched earth tactic used against him Napoleon was left in a burning city with starving troops and no enemy in sight as well as a russian winter blowing in. he knew he had no chice but to go back with the remains of his once grand army. -
Battle of Leipzig
this battle was fough tby the coalition of russia prussia austria and sweden against the army of the french emperor Napoleon. Napoleon was defeated and the coalition pressed it's advantage invading france the next year. -
Exile to Elba
Napoleon was imrisoned on elba after he had been removed from power by the coalition he was allowed to keep a personal gaurd of six hundred soldiers. he escaped elba by boat. -
