Henry was an explorer, who had strong religious beliefs, but believed more in his expeditions to defeat Muslims and spread Christianity in an ongoing holy war. "Henry's expeditions began the process of European colonization" and the transatlantic slave trade making him significant to history and the reason to be on this timeline. -

1492: Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus discovered the new world in which we know as America, though he traveled to the Caribbeans like the Bahamas, he is credited with discovering the Americas. This makes him an important figure in world history. -

1497: John Cabot
John Cabot discovered Newfoundland and was instrumental in the development of the transatlantic trade between England and the America. His discovery helped with transportation, trade and communication. -

1513: Balboa discovers Pacific Ocean
"Balboa claimed the ocean and all of its shores for Spain, opening the way for later Spanish exploration and conquest along the western coast of South America." He named the ocean the South Sea, that we know of as Pacific Ocean. -

De Vaca’s exploration of N. America
During De Vacas exploration, he documented everything of the Americas SouthWest travels. He was the first to travel Texas, Arizona and New Mexico and was able to describe many Native Tribes. -

Frobisher explores N. Canada
Frobisher was the first English explorer to search for the North-West Passage – the seaway linking the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He became commander of three small ships and set sail for North America in search of the fabled Northwest Passage. -
First slaves from Africa to America
The first slaves were kidnapped and freed after seven years. This was important because it lead to conflict and war for years. -
John van Riebeeck
Riebeeck founded Cape Town and it resulted in opened Southern Africa for white settlement.He improved the natural anchorage at Table Bay, planting cereals, fruit, and vegetables, and obtaining livestock from the indigenous Khoi people. -
1914: Powered Railways, Refrigerated Cargo Ships
During this time powered railways and ships came about, with this refrigerated cargo ships were able to transport more goods for trade. this was the Golden age and First Industrial Revolution.
