He was a Spanish explorer who had convinced the Queen Isabella de Spain to fund his voyages to find a new Western route to Asia. Instead of Reaching Asia he discovered the "New World" which he believed to be Asia for a long time. -

Treaty of Tortillas
Spain and Portugal feared the other would claim their newly discovered territories The treaty would resolve their concerns, this called for a line from North to South throught he Atlantic ocean and the Easternmost part of South American continent. Unexplored territory East of the line would be controlled by Portugal and West of the line would be controlled by Spain. What a rip off! -

Vasco de Gama
He was an explorer from Portugal. He traveled around the tip if South Africa and cut through the Indian ocean and arrived at the coast of India. He took with him a cargo of spices back to Portugal and made a several thousand percent profit. -

Hernan Cortes was a Spanish explorer who conquered Mexico. He was on a mission to convert Natives to Catholic faith. He conqered the Aztec empire. He was the cause of the fall of Mexico. -

Ferdinand Magellan
He was a Spanish explorer whohad convinced the King of Spain to finance his voyage to sail West to reach Asia. He and a crew of some 270 men sailed West going around the tip of South America and reached the Phillipines. He was killed in battle in the Phillipines by the Natives and 17 sailors of his crew completed their mission. Even though he was killed in battle, he is still accredited for this accomplishment.
