Sculptures could be used in tribe rituals and ceremonies. Clay masks are the most common type of Africian clay sculputure and most include human and animal features. -
African Pots
The African clay pot is called an Udu which means "bottle" in the Ido language of Nigeria. They were used in the past in religious ceremonies as it was believed that the sound of ancestors could be heard in the Udu. The Udu employs an additional hole on the side of the pot, and is also made with two connecting chambers in a double Udu. -

These lamps were the only type of light at a certian period of time. The lamps were made of clay but had no design on them. the would put oil in them to start a fire for light. so they were originally called Oil lamps. -

African Jewlery can be storage of wealth; amassing gold or precious metals or stones in bracelets and amulets; or it can be a symbol of prestige and power. -
Figures/Statues
Many West African figures are used in religious rituals and are often coated with materials placed on them for ceremonial offerings. In central africa the main characteristics include heart-shaped faces that are curved inward and display patterns of circles and dots. -

Drums have a distinct subtle bass tone quality, creating water droplet sounds. The clay construction is based upon centuries-old African traditions. -

Clay Houses
In ancient Africa they made bricks out of clay by shaping them and letting them dry in the sun.They used straw to mix with the clay for it to stick better. Sometimes they fired clay-brick to make it last longer and more waterproof.
