Missouri Compromise
Missouri Compromise in 1820 was an effort by the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives to keep a balance of power between the slaveholding states and free states. The slaveholding states were scared that if they become out numbered in Congressional representation they would not have the power to protect their interests in property and trade. -

After that northern forces worked to take over the South, making them surrender in April 1865. -
13th Amendment
The 13th Amendment was passed by congress on January 31, 1865. And ratified December 6 1865. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery in the United States. And made it ilegal for any person to be owned by someone els no matter who it was. -
15th Amendment
It was passed by Congress February 26, 1869. And was ratified February 3rd 1870. The states that, The right of the people of the United States to vote will not be declined or abridged by the United States or by any other state on account of your race, skin color, or previous condition of servitude. -

The NAACP was founded on February 12, 1909. It stands for "National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Founded".The NAACP is the countries oldest, biggest most widely recognized grassroots-based civil rights organization. Little Rock 9 was African-American students attending Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, Arkasas who went to school in 1957 with federal protection. Little Rock High was supposed to be integrated but the National Guard was called in to keep peace. The nine students was Earnest Green, Elizabeth Eckferd, Jefferson Thomas, Terrence Roberts, Carlotta Walls, Minnijean Brown, Gloria Ray, Thelma Mothershed, and Melba Beats. -

I Have A Dream Speech
August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King gives his speech for freedom. The "I Have A Dream Speech" was 17 minutes long. He wanted everyone to be treated the same no matter what race or skin color you were. The speech was a defining moment of the American Civil Rights Movment. It was sent to over 200,000 Cvil Rights supporters. -
Loving v. Virgina
Virginia enacted laws that made it a felony for a white person to marry with a black person or the other way aroud. The constitutionality of the statutes was being questioned. -
Martin Luther King assassination
