    The supreme court decided that it was unconstitutional for children to be segregated in schools. Oliver Brown who was a minister in Topeka Kansas went against Kansas's schools. The outcome of this event was that schools weren't segregated anymore.

    The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a civil rights protest where African Americans refused to ride in city buses to protest against segregated seating. Martin Luther King Jr and many other African American protestors were all involved with this peaceful form of protesting. The outcome of this event was the supreme court deciding to rule segregated seating on public buses unconstitutional.

    Integration of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas
    Little rock nine which consisted of nine African American students attended an all-white school and this obviously caused a reaction from the city and community. The people involved were the little rock nine. The outcome of this event was helping combat the issue of segregated schools.

    A protest where African American students put together a sit-in at a segregated lunch counter and refused to leave when they were denied service. The people involved with this were multiple African Americans students. The outcome of this event was influencing many others to follow in their footsteps and continue the peaceful protests.

    The black panthers were a political organization that was fighting against police brutality. It was founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. They started many programs for African American children but there were many problems within the organization.

    This event was a protest started by black activists and citizens that wanted to protest against racial discrimination and segregation. The people involved were Martin Luther King Jr, SCLC, and multiple protestors. The outcome of this event wasn't what it was intended to be because they didn't get what they were hoping for but it did help encourage the movement and get attention from people.

    Birmingham Campaign
    This event was a movement that was started to confront the things that were happening to people in Birmingham Alabama and try to get them the rights they deserved. The people involved in this event were Martin Luther King Jr, James Bevel, Fred Shuttlesworth, and the Birmingham community. The outcome of this event was lunch counters, restrooms, drinking fountains, department store fitting rooms were desegregated and African Americans were allowed to be hired in stores.

    March on Washinton
    This event was a large protest that took place in Washington D.C. and it fought for African Americans to have the ability to get jobs and protested racial inequality. The people involved in this event were Martin Luther King Jr, A. Phillip Randolph, Whitney M. Young, James Farmer, Roy Wilkens, John Lewis, and thousands of protestors. This event helped gain momentum for the Civil Rights movement and encouraged equality for African Americans.
  • Freedom Summer

    Freedom Summer
    A summer project that encouraged as many African Americans as possible to register for voting. Many volunteers were involved in the movement. The outcome of this event was millions of people realizing they should help fight for African Americans and also the voting rights act was passed so that African Americans could now vote.

    Two stepbrothers, Marquette and Ronald were pulled over by a police officer, and when one brother panicked after failed a sobriety test a conflict grew and as more people and a police officer came to the scene more violent it became. This event resulted in riots across the city,

    The Kerner's Commission released a report stating the racism was the cause for the riots and violence so they wanted to prevent and stop the racism that was taking place so that riots would stop occurring.

    After the murder of MLK, lots of riots broke loose due to the outburst of many emotions by African Americans. Some of the riots that took place were peaceful but there were some that weren't. National Guard troops had to contain the rioters. There were millions of dollars of damage and hundreds and thousands of people who were arrested.

    Vivian Strong was killed by the police in Omaha Nebraska and this resulted in violent riots. People started fires and destroyed buildings out of anger from Vivian's death.
