Mohamed Dowd Khan Seizes power of nation

Jul 17, 1973

While King Zahir Shah was on vacation his cousin and former prime minister preformed a military coup and seized control of the government.

Amir Turns 13

1976

Amir turns 13 and Baba invites over 400 people to a large party.

Mohamed Dowd Khan is overthrown by PDPT

Apr 27, 1978

Mohamed Dowd Khan and his family were killed in the attack.

Soviets enter Afghanistan

1979

Because the PDPT was a communist party they held close ties with the soviets.

Amir and Baba flee Afghanistan

1981

Due to the Soviets invading Afghanistan Amir and his Father move to Afghanistan and then America.

Amir and Baba Move to America

1983

They move to Freemont CA, (the exact time isn't known)

Soviets leave Afghanistan

1989

After ten years of war the Soviets leave Afghanistan.

Amir Returns to America

2001

After returning to Kabul for the first time in more than 15 years Amir comes home with Hassans child Sohrab.

Northern Alliance Leaders are killed
