George Washington is Voted First President of the U.S

Tthe Louisiana Purchase was sold to the U.S from France in 1803 for $15 million. This deal was made between Thomas Jefferson. the U.S President at the time, and Napoleon Bonaparte, the ruler and dictator of France. This purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States. -

YMCA first opens in the U.S
The first YMCA in the United States opened on December 29, 1851, in Boston, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1851 by Captain Thomas Valentine Sullivan (1800–1859), an American seaman and missionary. He was influenced by the London YMCA and saw the association as an opportunity to provide a "home away from home" for young sailors on shore leave. -
