  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    This made is so then only the Native Americans could use the land between Allegheny Mountains, Florida, the Mississippi River, and Quebec. The British did not like this so they tried to claim the land for their colonists, but failed. This lead the colonists to think the British did not actually care about them.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This made it so it was illegal to import rum from another country. The colonists protested the new act with the slogan, “No taxation without representation.”
  • Currency Act

    Currency Act
    This made it so the colonists could not print money or any other currency. The colonists reacted to this in a very negative way because they believed it would ruin their economy.
  • Stamp Act

    This made it so there was a seal the colonists had to pay for in order to get things such as stamps or licenses. The colonists rebelled against it by either countering it or just trying to get things without the stamp.
  • Quartering Act of 1765

    The Act made it so the colonists had to make room for soldiers to live in their homes. The colonists did not like this at all because it made it so foreigners to live in their households.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This made it so the Stamp Act was no longer in effect. It basically meant that The King could pass any laws to the colonists and they had to follow them. Although this helped the colonists out money-wise, it did not help them with their safety. So, the colonists chose to ignore it.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This was saying that some taxes for imports were the only taxes. Some examples would be tea and glass. The colonists protested by saying that it was not fair that they taxed them again, even if it was there to help the British merchants. They started to make trades with each other that way they wouldn’t have to pay the taxes.
  • Boston Massacre

    This was when a lot of colonists were killed by British soldiers in Boston. This made the colonists very upset so they decided to campaign against the British.
  • Boston Tea Party

    This happened because the British were trying to tax the tea that the colonists used. In order to protest against this, some men snuck onto the boat that would've shipped the tea and tossed it into the water.
  • Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)

    This was when they closed the port that the tea was dumped into and said they would not open it again until the colonists paid for it. They also made it so then the town could not have meetings without the government present or permission. The colonists protested by making sure they had their own, “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.”
  • Quartering Act of 1774

    Quartering Act of 1774
    This was a part of the Intolerable Acts. It made it so then there wouldn’t need to be a trial with a jury, they did not need to have representation in the trials, and the Catholic Church had more power now. The colonists did not like this because it also allowed royal governors to sleep in the colonists homes.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    This made it so then the French Catholics could get jobs in the government and it could be potentially better than the colonists could get. This made the colonists very upset because the government was allowing religion to overcome loyalty.
