  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    It closed down the colonial expansion westward beyond the Appalachia. It was the first action that affected all the colonies. It was used to help ease the tension between the Native Americans. The colonist ignored the Proclamation and kept moving.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    It was created to end the smuggling trade in sugar and molasses from french and Dutch West Indies and providing increased revenues to pay for the French and Indian War. The colonist didn't want to pay the tax because there were people who forced the law. The colonist smuggled the stuff into the country.
  • Currency Act

    Currency Act
    Parliament passed this act which assumed control of the colonial currency system. It prohibited the issue of new bills and the reissue of currency. The colonist protested the Currency Act.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    An act passed by parliment that put a tax on everything. This effects the colonist in America because they had to pay a tax on everything from paper products to instruments. The colonist boycotted British goods.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    The act allowed British troops to find a place to stay in the American colonies, even if it were in private homes. The colonies were required to house the British soldiers in barracks. The colonist were upset about this.
  • Decloratory Act

    Decloratory Act
    This is a declaration by the Parliament to repeal the Stamp Act. It states the Parliament's taxing authority is the same in America and Great Britain. The colonist didn't have a real reponse.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    A series of laws passes on the American colonies that placed taxes took some of the freedoms away. The taxes were on the imports of paper, paint, lead, glass and tea. The colonist boycotted all the goods.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    It was a street fight between a "patroit mob" and squad of British soldiers. Colonist were killed which led to campaign.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    It was a political protest that occured because the American colonist were against Britain imposing "taxation without representation" that they dumped 342 chest of tea into the harbor.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act
    The British close down the port and demanded the residents pay almost $1 million worth of the tea that was dumped in the harbor. The colonist refused and boycotted the Acts because they felt it was a violation of their rights.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Laws that were passed by Parliament after the Boston Tea Party that were placed to punish the Massachusetts colonist for their defiance. Now even more colonist turned against the British rule.
