The number of people that can be successfully integrated
In my town only a small number of refugees can be intergrated because there are not many jobs. But more of them can stay at the villages nearby. This would give life to the villages again and also create new jobs to meet the needs. So I think that my town can accommodate approximately 7,000 refugees, according to the model of the island of Tilos. -
Accomodation
The refugees can stay at the abandoned houses in the villages of the area. This can increase the population of the villages and boost their economy too because, NGOs can undertake to pay a nominal rent for refugees. -
The kind of entrepreneurship that can be develop
They can work at the farms or open their own businesses (minimarkets, cafes, shops) because the population of the villages will increase so, the needs will do the same. Especially, woman can be employed in house cleaning, as waitresses at the local restaurants or at the local womans cooperative, when men can be employed as farmers or craftsmen at local businesses of pottery making. -
The ways your school can help
About their children, they can go to school there when the adults can attent greek classes in the afternoon in order to be able to communicate with the locals. We could encourage our older students to help the younger refugee children that strugles with their homework any time that they need. Motivating the local schoolmates and friends to accept refugee children as their friends too is a big step that should also be done because otherwise the refugees will feel lonely and unwanted. -
The potential benefits for local community
Each one of the refugees, in their own way, can offer in the community. With just their presence there, they are boosting not only the local economy but also the image of those villages. They will give life to these villages again, because many habitants have moved away over the years. In conclusion, hosting refugees in the villages outside my town can be very beneficial to our society.
