Peter's adventure to Western Europe
Peter left under the name of Peter Mikhail and the journey lasted total of eighteen months. He brought back plans to gain access to the Baltic Sea and also brought back men to educate Russians on becoming doctors, soldiers, and artisans. -

Charles XII lead an attack on Russia who were in Narvia and Ingria. 8,000 Swedes destroyed a Russian army of 23,000. -
During the 1700's
To enlarge his army, Peter offered good pay for those who would volunteer to join. He wasn't able to recruit enough men so he resorted to the conscription of men from all classes. Debt slaves freed by the death of their owner were enlisted as soldiers and sailors. -
Peter's Orders
In November, Peter ordered a speeded construction at St. Petersburg; the formation of two shifts of workers was created. 15,000 for each shift, for the summer building season of 1707. Early 1707, he drafted clerks, sons of priests and other men of religion to make a cavalry regiment of former secretaries. -

Peter's main concern
(1720's) Peter the Great imposed taxes on peasants which he used to create an army of 200000 men that were equipped with modern muskets and artillery. While he was ruler, he raised taxes by five times. -
Treaty of Nystad
The Treaty of Nystad ended the Great Northern War between Russia and Sweden. The Treaty stated Russia was one of the major European powers and stated the decline of Sweden being a great power. It also stated Russia's control of the Baltic. -
Peter's Death
Peter's bladder to be infected with gangrene. He was fifty-two years and had reigned forty-two years.
