Pilbara Strike
The strike involved at least 800 Aboriginal pastoral workers walking off the large pastoral stations in the Pilbara. -
Freedom Riders SAFA
A group of students from the University of Sydney attracted national and international attention to the shocking and horrific living conditions of Aboriginal people and the dreadful racism in many New South Wales country towns. They travelled for 15 days on a bus to regional NSW country towns. -
The Australian Referendum
On 27 May 1967 the Australian Government held a referendum that would change the Australian constitution. The referendum would allow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to be included in the census and give the government the power to create laws for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
