  • The End of the French and Indian War (Signing of the Treaty of Paris of 1763)

    The End of the French and Indian War (Signing of the Treaty of Paris of 1763)
    The French and Indian War or the Seven Year's War was between Britian and its colonies; and the French with the help of the Native Americans on both sides but Spain joined later. The war was about for land in North America. The war ended with a British getting vicory, previously owned land from France but it also resulted Britian in a lot of debt. The sides sign the Treaty of Paris.
    Important because it started the tension between the colonists and Britian because Britian needed to pay debts.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    In this act it said any melasses or syrups grew or rum and spirits bought not under the king would cause the person to pay a fine.This is important because it angered the colonists.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    In this act any papers, stamp, legal document, ship's papers, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed. This is important because it angered the colonists.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    In this act it said the colonists had to let soldiers and officers stay at their house if they needed a place to stay. If the colonist refused it was considered a criminal act.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    A series of acts that put taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies. The acts were imposed in hopes to pay debts and keep colonist's loyalty but many colonists were angered and veiwed it as an abuse of power.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a street fight. It was between a Patriot crowd and some British soldiers where the group of Patriots threw snowballs, stones, and sticks at the British soldiers, causing the British soldiers to start shooting at the Patriots. Several colonists were killed and and hurt. The British soldiers were put on trial but only two were charged with murder. This event led to many colonists wanting to be free from Britian, rebel, and the British soldiers being taken out of Boston.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    In this act the King said the colonies couldn't buy any goods not under him. This important because this angered many colonists that the king was telling them what to do and for some it was the last straw
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    This was a rebellion of the Sons of Liberty throwing British imported tea into the Boston Harbor. The Sons of Liberty dressed up as indians, going on three British ships and throwing 342 chests of tea overboard. This was a very big event, that was one of the colonists big rebellions and caused more tension between Britian and the Colonies and pushed them even closer to war.
  • The Coercive/ Intolerable Acts

    The Coercive/ Intolerable Acts
    The The Coercive/ Intolerable Acts consisted of three acts: The Boston Port Act (March, 31) which said only Britian can trade with the colonies, the MA Government act and JUstice act (May, 20) which said that King George picks who runs the government, and the Quebec Act (June 22) which said to keep Catholic faith. This important because these acts angered the colonists.
  • The Signing of the Declaration of Independence

    The Signing of the Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was a famous break up letter from the Colonies to Britian. In this declaration the colonists told Britian their wrong doing like how they took their freeedom and imposed taxes on the colonies without their consent. The colonists finally stated their wish of freedom from the British. This is very important because the colonists finally told Britian they didn't want them anymore and wanted to be free.
  • The Battle of Trenton

    The Battle of Trenton
    Washington ordered a sneak attack on British troops on December 25 and the Patriots sailed the Delaware River and attacked the British on the 26. The British surrendered and Patriots won. This was important because it was the first time the colonists won which gave hope to them and hurt the British and their ego.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga
    This battle started September 19 and ended October 7, 1777. In this battle the British surrendered and the colonist won. This is known as the turning point in the war because the French decided to help the colonists. This is imortant because the colonist finally thought they could win the war, the British was hurt and their ego was too and the French joined the colonists side in the war.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown
    This battle, also know as the Siege of Yorktown, was from September 28 to October 19, 1781. In this battle the colonists won and the British surrendered. This is important because battle got the British to surrender forever and ended the war.
  • The Signing of the Treaty of Paris

    The Signing of the Treaty of Paris
    The signing of the Treaty of Paris offically ended the Revolutionary War and made the 13 colonies free on British control. It was signed in Paris by representatives of King George III (David Hartley) and representatives and negotiators the United States of America (John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay).
    Important because it offically set the 13 colonies free of Britian.
