In 1631 the Wizards' Council made a Code of Wand Use, that forbid goblins, house-elves and other non-human magical beings carrying or using a wand. -

The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy was signed in 1692. This law made clear that the existence of magic was to be kept a secret from Muggles. -

Duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald
In 1945, Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald fought one of the biggest duels known in our history. At the end of this three hour long duel, Albus Dumbledore won and Gellert Grindelwald was brought to Nurmengard, the wizarding prison he built. -
