The story changed a lot of people who liked slavery into people who hated it.

This impacted history be showing the two sides of slavery and how people wanted different things. In the end Douglas got his way and the states could choose.

Lincoln won the electoral votes so he won and some people thought he got lucky. After lincoln was elected states in the south started leaving the union and the united states.
