Video clip NWMPT The Great March West has begun. What a sight! There are 300 officers and men, 142 oxen pulling Red River carts, 93 head of cattle, 310 horses, 2 fierld guns and portable kitchens.

Weather is hot. We are tortured by mosquitoes. Our column is 3 km in lenght. Col. French has us arranged in six divisions. At the rear are the slower red river carts, cattle and kitchens.

Already have some deserters. Tey ran away in the night. This journey is going to be harder than we thought.
