Weather is hot. We are tortured by mosquitoes. Our column is 3 km in lenght. Col. French has us arranged in six divisions. At the rear are the slower red river carts, cattle and kitchens. -
10 July 1874, Day 3
Already have some deserters. Tey ran away in the night. This journey is going to be harder than we thought.
