The traveling became dangerous because of the bountiful amount of lions around the area. -

Salva finds his uncle who had been with the group for three days, but there were well over 30 people, so they had not found each other earlier. Salva's uncle was allowed to keep his gun from fighting in the war, so he became one of the group's leaders. -

On the afternoon of the third day, the travelers were almost out of the desert, when they saw a dead stork and stopped to eat it. Before the bird was done roasting, bandits came and robbed them. The bandits took Salva's uncle, tied him to a tree, and then used his gun to shoot him. -
Falling Action 1 - Salva

Salva decides to go to Kenya where he has heard there are some more refugee camps; fifteen hundred young boys, that also survived, follow him, and he becomes their leader. Along the way, he protects them from the war and encourages them to keep moving, using everything he has learned from his family. More and more boys join the group as the days progress. When they finally reach Kenya, Salva had successfully led more than twelve hundred boys safely there. -
Falling Acion 5 - Salva
Salva had gone to the Kakuma camp, but there was never enough food, the conditions were horrible, and you weren't allowed to leave the building, unless you were leaving for good, so he left and went to the Ifo camp, but it was just the same, not any better, not any worse. At this camp, Salva made friends with an Irish aid worker, Micheal, who offered to
teach Salva English and how to read; and also how to play volleyball. -
Falling Action 6 - Salva
People in the camps were going to be able to go to America, from the camp, but only if they were healthy and an orphan. Salva fit the requirements, and he really wanted to go to the US, so he checks the lists everyday; his name is not on the list until weeks later, saying he will go to Rochester, New York. -
Resolution 1 - Salva
Salva rode to Nairobi, where a lot of preperation was done, including getting new clothes. Salva flew from Nairobi to Germany, then flew on another plane form Germany to New York City, and then another plane to Rochester, New York. Salva met his new family at the airport and before they went outside, they gave him more clothes (winter outerwear). He couldn't believe anyone could need so many clothes, but then he stepped outside, and experienced cold for the first time. -
Resolution 2 - Salva
Salva started going to college and picked up volleyball again. He got an email from his cousin saying his father was in a clinic, having surgery done, about 300 miles south from his village. Months later, all of the preperation was done for him to visit his dad. When they first see each other again, his father isn't sure if it's him because it had been so long. His father tells Salva, his mother is safe at home with his sisters, and Ariik and Kuel are dead, but his other brother, Ring, survived. -
Resolution 3 - Salva
Salva promises to his father that he will come back and visit home when the war has moved to a different village. He goes back to New York to talk to people about his idea, so that he can raise some money. Once his project is made a program, he returns to Sudan to give villages a water pump so they can have clean water right in the village. He was bringing these pumps to the villages of the Dinkas, but then he decides to give the Nuer Tribe villages water too. -

-
Exposition 2: Setting - Nya
- Southern Sudan, Africa
- almost the end of the rainy season
-
Exposition 3: Characters - Nya
Nya:
* girl
* about eleven years old
* (born 1997) -
Rising Action 1: Conflict - Nya
Nya and her family moved to the lake camp because the rainy season was over, and the pond water was all dried up. At the lake camp, Nya had to dig in the ground where the lake was, to reach water; and Dep and their father went off to hunt, with the risk of meeting Dinka Tribe men and having to fight them, leading to an injury or death. -
Rising Action 2 - Nya
Akeer became very sick with an illness that may cause starvation and might go away at first, but then soon return to go off and on for the rest of her life. This illness causes pain in the stomach and is caused by drinking dirty water, so anyone can get it; and several people had already gotten it in her village and at the lake camp. Her family didn't know whether to risk making the long journey to receive help, or to just let her rest. -
Rising Action 3 - Nya
Akeer went to a doctor and returned to her normal self, but from now on, she cannot drink dirty water; her water has to be boiled for a count of 200, but boiling the water was hard since it came in small amounts. - The dry season was over, so they traveled back to the village. -
Rising Action 4 - Nya
Two men rode up to Nya's village in a jeep and started talking to Nya's uncle, because he's the chief, about installing a pump that would bring clean water to their village. The men walked to a spot in between two trees, and then announced that was where they would find water, but there was no sign of water there. - The men left. -
Rising Action 5 - Nya
The men in the jeep came back witht wo trucks, a 10 men crew, tools and supplies. Meanwhile, the people in the village had been clearing land in the spot which was supposed to have water, and gathering stones for gravel. The crew then started drilling with the jackhammers and the worksite became very noisy. -
Rising Action 6 - Nya
The trucks would leave and come back with a large bag of water; the bag would sometimes leak and the crew would have a hard time patching it, this would then discourage the men, but the leader/boss encouraged them to continue. -
Climax / Turning Point - Nya
One day while the men were working, water shot out of the ground, like a geyser, and drenched those working the jackhammers. Though the water was dirty, everyone celebrated because they knew it meant progress and that clean water was soon to come. -
Falling Action 1 - Nya
Nya was disappointed and doubtful because of the color of the water when it shot out of the ground; she felt like it didn't mean anything because that water wasn't going to do anything for Akeer. Dep trried to reassure Nya, but he also said it would be several more days before the water would be clean, so Nya picked up her plastic water-fetching container and returned to her job. -
Falling Action 2 - Nya
Nya's father gathered some men, and carring tools, they all walked to a spot on the other side of the second tree as the well, and started clearing the land. They were going to build a school. -
Falling Action 3 - Nya
Now that they were going to have water in the village, none of the children would have to go to the pond anymore to retrieve water for their families everyday, so they could all attend school. Hearing that even the girls would be going to school, Nya walked off to fetch the water as happy as can be. -
Resolution 1 - Nya
The well was finished and everyone was waiting in line to get a drink from the pump. Everyone celebrated as they tasted the clean water. Soon the school would be built and a market place would follow; a clinic would eventually be built as well, but that would be a few years later. -
Resolution 2 - Nya
Others came to the well to taste the water, and people in the village had special jobs pertaining to the well. Nya discovered the leader of the project was Dinka, and he had brought water to Dinka villages, but had decided to bring water to a Nuer village and it was her's. She went over and thanked him, he asked her what her name was and told her his name was Salva.
