    • Reading and Math was taught at home by kid's parents. Based on their parents, they were taught these subjects, but majority of boys were taught how to farm and girls how to cook and clean.

    Evolution Of American High School

    • the idea of school transportation was generated in 1939 by Frank W. Cyr, origin of yellow school buses
    • segregation in California was ruled as unconstitutional as Mexican were separated from American kids, an essential event towards Brown. vs Board of Education
    • The ACT test was established and administered in 1959

  • Early Nation Period (1775 -1820)

    -Schools' curricular were based on good morals and religion
    - Pioneers of education, Jefferson and Webster were not for teaching political or moral values
    - public and private institutions were similar and both received funding from the government.

    Common School Movement (1820-1865)

    • the idea of the time was that public school was only for children without money
    • More public schools were built throughout the states ue to the acknowledgement that they would serve as a positive to equally provide education to kids
    • governors felt children's education was up to their parents to enforce and provide at home in Virginia.

  • Searching for Equality: The Education of Cultural Minorites

    • segregation was an elongated time period from slavery up util 1964 where discrimination was prohibited along many features under the Civil Rights Act.

  • The Modern Era

    • the Higher Education Act was amended again to provide funds for graduating low-income students
    • many teachers were laid off due to lack of education funding in 2014, and he ones who remain are seeking higher pay
