The Missouri Compromise was an agreement made by Congress in 1820 under which admitted Missouri to the Union as a slave state and Maine was admitted as a free state. This event didn't really lead to war but it got people very mad -
Compromise Of 1850
The Compromise of 1850 was the agreements made in order to admit California into the Union as a free state. These agreements included allowing the New Mexico and Utah territories to decide whether to allow slavery, outlawing the slave trade in Washington, D.C. It lead to a civil war because some people didn't agree with it still. -
Nebraska-Kansas Act
The Kansas Nebraska Act was passed on May 30, 1854 by the U.S. Congress. it allowed all people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders.slavery was no allowed north of 36°30´. The anti-slavery people started the violence and led by John Brown. -
Dred Scott case
Dred Scott was going with his master to Wsiconsin and when he got there dred said that he was a free man because he was in a free state. He argued to the supreme justice he was free but they denied that he wasn't free because he wasn't a citizen. -
Election of 1860
The election of 1860 was won by Abraham Licoln. He fought against slavery while he was president. Many people were afraid if he won especially southerners because they felt as though that slavery would be abolished. -
Attack on FT. Sumter
General P.G.T Beauregard commanded the Confederate soilders to open fire on Ft. Sumter. This was the main thing that started the civil war.
