Moros Y Cristianos started in 1275 after the Battle of Alcoy. in the morning the Christians are defeated by the moors. When the moors go walk their victory lap, the Christians are aided by Saint George where they eventually win the war. Over 150 of these festivals take place in Spain each year. The fair was first started in 1847 by José María Ybarra and Narciso Bonaplata as a livestock fair. After a year, it transformed into a fair due to the first three casetas of Duke and Duchess of Montpensier, the Town Hall, and the Casino of Seville. La fería de abril reached its high point in the 1920’s and has become the celebrated holiday of today. -

La fería de abril happens at Seville, Spain. It is a fair that starts at midnight on Monday and continues for 6 days, ending on Sunday. During the fair, the fairground is completely covered by casetas which are tents temporarily built on the ground. The owners of the tents consist of prominent families of Seville, groups of friends, and trade associations. People party and dance “Sevillanas”. They also drink manzanilla wine and eat tapas.

The Castellers de Vilafranca was founded it is a sporting and cultural group, which builds human towers. The group has 400 participating group members at this moment and has no discrimination of any kind and any one can join, the group members all have the same goal: build the highest tower and get down safe. The place where the group meet is a house called Cal Figarot, Casa Via Raventós in Vilafranca del Penedès. Between 1995 and 2004 the group was proud to have the highest and hardest tower
