Trail of Tears
In 1838 President Andrew Jackson ordered the Indian Removal Act, which caused the Cherokee to relinquish land east of the mississippi river. They were forced to journey westward to present-day Oklahoma. Their journey was called the trail of tears because of their difficulties along the way. (starvation, disease, and exhaustion) -
Trail of Death
Removal of Potowatomi in Indiana to Osawatomie, Kansas. Journey called Trail of Death because many indians died along the way.
