Steam Engine
The steam engine created and perfect by James Watt in 1769. This was the biggest and most important invention of the Industrial Revolution. This product has been used in other new inventions including a steam boat and the modern day cars you see everyday. -
French Revolution
The French Revolution went from 1789-1804. Fuedalism was still being used and the people new this didn't work in the century. They wanted a change and enlightment told them they, as people, can overthrow their government. They decided to take a stand and executed the King and Queen. Napolean ended Fuedalism which solved the French revolution. -
Haitian Revolution
Went on from 1791-1804. The Haitian Revolution was led by Toussaint L'Ouverture. This event was heals by slaves in Haity which concerned the French and the British. They decided to gain an alliance with America becuase they didn't want their slaves to hear about it and revolt. It ended in Haiti gaining it's independence and was the 1st independent black state. -
Independence of Mexico
Father Hidalgo asked for the independence of Mexico from Spain. One heroic thing he did was on September 16, 1810, Hidalgo freed the prisoners in the town of Dolores, After this he was tricked and executed. Soon Creole, a city, began running campaigns which were successful. A revolution came about started by Fransico Madero in 1910-1917. He became president but was executed and a new president Venustiano came into play. Thier constitution was made in 1917 and they became independent. -
congress of Vienna
went from 1814-1815. After the downfall of Napoleon Bonaparte, this international conference was called to create a balance among the European powers to prevent future wars and also to maintain stability and peace. In this, France lost all land Napolean had gotten, the monarchy in france was restored, Austria got it's territory back and was given some of italy and Germany's land, Russia and Finland Shared new part of Poland, Prussia was given alot of lands. -
Opium War
Went on from 1839-1842. This all started over an addiction to tea in all of europe and spreading greatly and fast. China decided to close off compleatly from Europes addicting drink and this didnt settle for them. Britain came in on a mission to defeat the chinese. This ended in the treaty of Nanjing. -
Communist Manifesto
This was a book writen by Karl Marx and Freidrich Engels two German Economist/Historians. This document showed their veiws on communism, including what the goals are of communism. -
Matt Perry goes to Japan
Matt Perry was a key figure to the U.S. navy and when he traveled to japan, He was given orders to travel far east to nagociate a treaty with japan. This nagociation was to Open at least one port in Japan for trade. Also to seek protection of British merchants and Seamen. -
Sepoy Mutiny
The sepoys were Indian's trained as British soldiers. When a rumor spread saying the Sepoys new rifles cartidges were greased with lard and Beef fat, the sepoys mutinied. The cow and pig were sacrid to some peoples religion and this showed disrespect to the people. The British soon shut this mutiny down and retook all the countries the Sepoys captured. They also began harming the Sepoys one by one threw painful killing sprees. -
Unification of Germany
Went from 1864-1871. It gradually became independent starting from the time of the Industrial revolution because the new railways and resources. Then it went into the fight for the 2 duchies and the Treaty of london. Soon after came the Austrian-Prussian war finishing with Franco-prussian War. All of these events created the unicication of germany. -
Berlin Conference
Went on from 1884-1885. This Conference was on dividing Africa between the greedy nations. They basically just took a knife and picked what they wanted. This was a very bad Idea becuase they couldn't have tons of different kinds of people living so close together. This created wars and lots of death between the people living there. -
Russo-Japanese War
went from 1904-1905. This war was between Russia and Japan over land. Japan attakced Port aurthor first and won followed by a series of wins granted to Japan. Japan also destroyed the Russian fleet. THis amazed the world and made Japan feel strong and threatning. This also sparked the Russian Revolution. -
Zulu Uprising
Also known as the Bambatha rebellion, was the Zulu rebellion against Britian and the taxation in Africa. THe zulu's were led by Dinuzulu in June 1888. In 1890 he was banished to St Helena by the British. The Zulu's lost. -
Dr. Sun Yat-sen takes over China
Sun Yat-sen was considered the founder of Rupublican China. In his rule, he won the Revolution yet lost his power quickly. His veiws were more in allience with the communist and he led campains against the warlords which were rulers of most the nation.
