Franklin's parents were very rich so Franklin grew up in a mansion in Hyde Park, New York. He was a very pampered boy. -

Eleanor, his wife, helped him keep his self-confidence because he was diagnosed with Polio, a virus that eats away at the spine. -
Going Into Politics
After Franklin married his fifth cousin, Eleanor, he ran for the state senate and was elected. After that he was choosen by President Woodrow Wilson to be secretary of the Navy. After that he ran for president and was elected. -
