Isolated revolts, by groups of intellects, students, and radicals, become quite common. These uprisings were against the generally corrupted administrations, such as the Austrian rule in the North or Bourbon monarchy in Naples. -

After failed revolts, Giueseppe Mazzini begins the "Young Italy" society, which publicly announces the goals of Italian nationalists. -
Sicily Uprising.
Citizens uprise in Sicily against Naples. -

Republic of Vienna surrenders to Austrians, ending Mazzini`s vision for reform. -
Formation of New Kingdom of Italy.
The New Kingdom of Italy is formed under monarch, Victor Emmanuel II. -

After assisting Prussia in a war against Austria, Italy is rewarded with Venice. -
Regain of Rome.
Napoleon removes his army from Rome, weakening the overall defense of the city. Italy is then able to attack, and take over, the city from the Pope. -

Italy, as we know it know, is created through consolidation and unification. -
Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand & WWI.
Archduke Franz Ferdinand is shot. This event, alongside European tensions (which could not be solved by further expansion since Europe & its colonies accounted for 80% of the globe) caused the outbreak of WWI.
